A chicken piri piri joint, Casa do Frango, is having its moment.
First up, it was Michael Deacon, who gave the restaurant four stars. , The restaurant critic for The Telegraph said the chicken was “glisteningly succulent,” the sauce on the side “glowing furious orange,” a “crafty” blend of fruit and heat. And there was a “satisfying,” “gooey” pastel de nata.
Jay Rayner, from the Observer, tried the gazpacho “full of garlic astringency and sunshine,” “the right kind” of grilled chorizo, and “substantial” grilled prawns “with lots of good head-suckage potential.” Jay has then enjoyed the chicken, saying each bird “small, meaty, very flavourful” — “salty and spicy in all the right places.
Both restaurant critics agree that Casa do Frango may not be fancy, but it undeniably represents “good value.” For Rayner, though, "London needs this delightful piri piri chicken joint".
